The Yates go skiing!!!

We had one of the most fun and eventful days of skiing we have ever had. For over a year now we have been saying we needed to do this and yesterday we finally did. Chris and Heidi one of our Uncle and Aunts from Johnny's side of the family and 3 of their 4 children accompanied us to Snowbird Saturday for an incredible day of skiing. Chris and Heidi had not been for 12 years however they picked it right back up just like riding a bike. For Ian, Lora, and Isabel this was their first time and they did so well. After a few short runs on the kiddie hill Ian progressed to the bunny hill Chickadee and perfected the lift and the bigger hill incredibly fast. Lora started to be able to turn and was able to stop all by herself using a half pizza/wedge by the end of the day. Isabel loved to go fast and perfected her airplane arms and french fry ski skills. They have some of the cutest, well behaved, and intelligent kids. We had so much fun talking, skiing and spending the day with them. We are totally looking forward to burrito night and hope to do this again soon.

Getting all geared up

First run was a little shaky, but we got to the kiddie hill so the kids could go by themselves. Johnny played photographer and also has Ian in between his skis right now. Multi-talented.

Getting onto the magic carpet. A conveyor belt that the kids ride up to the top of the kiddie slope.

This is Ian's first run down Chickadee, he did so well. I was amazed at how fast he picked it up wedging, turning, stopping the whole bit. Here is a picture of Chris his dad trying to keep up, he was so fast and we couldn't get him off the mountain.
Isabel's perfect airplane armsThis is my FAVORITE picture. Heidi is one of my favorite people, this picture says it all she is so carefree, fun to be around, and just plain hilarious. Heidi said she could have skied all day everyday. She picked it right back up and while she looks out of control here she's not, just having fun.Johnny is always behind the camera so I had to include this picture because he was there and he usually had a kid between his skis as well. He was a huge help and for only skiing for 3 years he does it like a pro. Who could complain about a day like this. We had the perfect weather 40 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.
